Already used in over 800 secondary schools, The Young Citizen's Passport Online is a practical guide to everyday law in England and Wales for 14-19 year olds and for anyone working with young people.
It provides detailed and accessible guidance on a wide range of topics - from sex and drugs to human rights and elections - and includes case studies and audio clips.
The Young Citizen's Passport Online is designed to support Citizenship teaching at Key Stages 3 and 4 and post-16 (including AS Citizenship courses).
The Young Citizen's Passport Online is written and updated by the Citizenship Foundation, an independent educational charity which aims to empower individuals to engage in the wider community through education about the law, democracy and society.
A wide range of issues relevant to young people are covered - including sex, pregnancy, drugs, education, student finance, discrimination, consumer rights, the police, housing and family issues, and voting and elections.
Each section includes a range of short, accessible case studies that illustrate the issues with real-life examples.
Audio clips reviewing the information in each section are ideal for those with reading difficulties or ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) students.
Information is updated twice a year to ensure it reflects the current state of the law in England and Wales.
The Young Citizen’s Passport Online also includes full contact details of carefully-selected organisations that can offer further information and help.
Access to The Young Citizen's Passport Online is currently available by username and password. Access via IP address and Shibboleth will be available in 2010.
An unlimited number of staff and students at subscribing schools can access The Young Citizen's Passport Online concurrently so it can be used in the classroom with confidence.
Pricing is calculated according to the total number of learners at a school, or schools within a region - so the more schools that subscribe to a resource as a group, the lower the price per learner is likely to be.
All suppliers have guaranteed that the prices negotiated by JISC Collections for Schools are the lowest available.
Please note that subscriptions will not be set up, and access granted, until a signed copy of the Acceptance of Licence Agreement Form (see below) has been received by the JISC Collections for Schools Helpdesk.
An invoice for the requested subscription period will be issued when the signed copy of the Acceptance of Licence Agreement Form (see below) is received.
